Week 2 had the Buffalo Sabres earning their first two wins of the season. In this article, we look to what is ahead in Week 3.
It was a pretty good Week 2 for the Buffalo Sabres as they won two out of three games they played. After winning a thrilling game in overtime against Tampa Bay, the Sabres laid an egg against the Calgary Flames before rebounding as they defeated the New York Islanders.
As we approach Week 3, the Sabres will have four games. To start off the week, they will have a back to back. Up first, Buffalo will be hosting the Montreal Canadiens. The Habs are 2-1-1 and the Sabres are 2-3-0.
Montreal is a team in a rebuild but Buffalo cannot take them easily. The Canadiens are a tough crew. In the three games played last year, Montreal beat Buffalo twice, so the Sabres will need to be ready for a young but tough team in the Habs.
Buffalo Sabres face a pair of Atlantic Division opponents in Week 3
The following night, Buffalo will take on another Atlantic Division opponent as they will be in Ottawa to take on the Senators. Both teams are trying to take the next step this season and brought out a potential rivalry last year so it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
After a couple of days off, the Sabres will be on the road again but this time in New Jersey. The last time Buffalo was in New Jersey, they were eliminated from the playoffs. Buffalo will have their hands full against a tough Devils team coached by former Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff.
To wrap up Week 3, the Colorado Avalanche will be in town. You don’t need a backstory for the Avalanche, they are one of the best teams in the league and hopefully the boys in blue and gold will be ready to play.
I’m going to change it up this week. After each article, I will give a prediction for the record. I think the Sabres will have a split week as I got them going 2-2.
