It would be awesome to invite a few Buffalo Sabres players to a Thanksgiving Day festivity, but if only three could come, who would they be?

Inviting just three members of the Buffalo Sabres to a Thanksgiving Day party would be one tough endeavor. Everyone playing for the Blue and Gold would bring something interesting and of worth, so ideally, most of us would have invitations for the entire 23-man roster. But what if you could only invite three players?

For those of us here at Sabre Noise, it was really simpler than you may have thought. The first invitee has fared pretty well in defying the odds, while the second one on the list is a shoo-in because they would just be flat-out entertaining. The third player is a proven leader who would share a lot of information on how to navigate tough situations.

3 Buffalo Sabres players to spend Thanksgiving with

1 – Devon Levi

All endorsements of Devon Levi to Rochester aside, it would be cool to have one of the best goaltenders college hockey has ever seen in attendance. Regardless of Levi’s current struggles, he’s shown the ability to bounce back on several occasions and to defy the odds, so the 21-year-old will have some inspirational advice to share.

2 – Jeff Skinner

Jeff Skinner would be the life of any party, so that alone would land him an invite. Skinner, known for hosting Between Two Stalls and picking some entertaining goal songs, would provide plenty of laughs if the NFL on Thanksgiving Day games end up becoming one-sided.

3 – Kyle Okposo

Kyle Okposo’s skills on the ice may pale compared to what they once were, but he’s still the Buffalo Sabres team captain for a good reason. Okposo lands the third invite because there is no one better to have discussions involving leadership and how to stay the course in even the most trying situations.

Overall, inviting the entire team would be the preferred route, as everyone currently on the roster would make your Thanksgiving Day 2023 arguably the top celebration in town. But the three aforementioned names all give us special value in their unique ways, with inspiration from Levi, entertainment from Skinner, and leadership talks from Okposo.
