The time has come to check out what lies ahead for the Buffalo Sabres in Week 9 of the 2023-24 season, and if they will turn things around.

It seems like yesterday when the 2023-24 NHL season started, but believe it or not, we are in the month of December. While the Buffalo Sabres have not reached the expectations we had for them going into the season, I’m still hopeful they can find their game and go on a little run.

After an average Week 8, it’ll be interesting to see what transpires this week. The team started last week off great with a very impressive win against the New York Rangers. After fighting their way back from a 3-0 lead, Buffalo lost a tough one against the St. Louis Blues.

Carolina has been a house of horrors for Buffalo as they looked terrible in a 6-2 loss to the Hurricanes. It would be a rough week and weekend as the Sabres lost another one at home against the Nashville Predators, losing three out of four games.

Buffalo Sabres had a rough Week 8, what will Week 9 look like?

On Tuesday, Buffalo will welcome in the Detroit Red Wings. It could be the first time we see Patrick Kane with the Red Wings. But going back to last year, the Sabres and Wings had some feisty moments in a Buffalo season series sweep.

Up next on Thursday night, the Sabres will be in Boston to square off with the Bruins. The last time Buffalo saw Boston, it was a game the team and fans of Buffalo would like to forget. Despite losing a lot of players in the offseason, Boston is the best team in the Atlantic and they will be a tall task for the Sabres.

For the final game of the week, the Montreal Canadiens will be in town. Montreal and Buffalo are in similar situations right now, so we’ll see what takes place on Saturday night and see where both teams are as the week progresses. For this week’s prediction, I think Buffalo wins two out of three games. After beating Detroit, they will lose to the Bruins but rebound with a victory against Montreal.
