The Buffalo Sabres are at roughly the first quarter mark of the 2025-26 season and find themselves in all too familiar spot, the bottom of the Atlantic Division. For a team that was hoping to finally end their playoff drought, it doesn't feel like this is going to be that season.

When looking ahead to the next 20 or so games for the 2025-26 season, these are some bold predictions for Buffalo Sabres fans to consider.

Tage Thompson moves into the Top 5 in goals scored in the NHL

Tage Thompson has been on an impressive run as of late as he had a goal in six straight games, which ended on Wednesday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Even though the streak ended, he should continue to be the team's leading goal scorer and can even get into the Top 5 in the NHL in the category.

Heading into the game against the New Jersey Devils, Thompson has 12 goals on the season and that has him tied for 18th in the league. However, he is only two goals back from being tied for third with nine other players.

As the team gets healthy, and this next player returns to the ice, Thompson should be able to keep this pace and be near the top of the league in goals scored.
