The Buffalo Sabres scored a thrilling comeback victory over the Boston Bruins in Game 1 of the Atlantic Division rivals' first-round playoff series, and it has diehard fans in Western New York feeling a certain way.
Case in point: A caller, "Adam from South Buffalo," is making the rounds on social media after an awesome soliloquy about the Sabres on The Jim Rome Show:
Someone find Adam from South Buffalo and get him to bang the drum for game two!#LetsGoBuffalo pic.twitter.com/FISRl4EUEW

Perhaps the best thing about Rome, one of the longest-running sports radio hosts in the game, is his ability to sense when a caller is delivering gold and allowing them to take the spotlight.
That was certainty the case here as Adam discussed everything from the "lunatics watching the game outside the arena" to taking a shot at ESPN for their lackluster coverage of the series opener during a three-minute rant with spectacular delivery.
"Incredible," Rome exclaimed before heading to a commercial break.
The NHL postseason is always better when the Sabres are involved because, as we've discussed before, Buffalo is the best hockey market in the United States. Add in the emotions of ending a 14-year playoff drought and the energy around the team is nothing short of incredible.
Now the fans hope the Blue and Gold can take them on a two-month journey toward a Stanley Cup title.
Sabres are bringing renewed championship hope to Buffalo after recent Bills playoff failures
Imagine telling a Buffalo sports fan in early December, when the Bills were in the middle of a four-game winning streak en route to a 12-5 record and the Sabres occupied last place in the Eastern Conference, that the hockey team was a bigger title threat.
No chance, right? Well, it may become the reality.
The Bills' defense faltered once again in the postseason, giving up 57 points across two playoff games, including 33 in a second-round loss to the Denver Broncos. It led team owner Terry Pegula to fire head coach Sean McDermott as he seeks a spark for a suddenly stagnant franchise.
Meanwhile, the Sabres caught fire. They won 39 of their final 53 games in the regular season to skyrocket up the standings, winning the Atlantic Division and finishing fourth overall in the NHL with 109 points.
So now, instead of moving past another miserable hockey season while focusing on this week's 2026 NFL Draft, those in Buffalo are enjoying playoff hockey for the first time since 2011.
Are the Sabres going to win the Cup? Perhaps not, but they're certainly in the conversation.
Buffalo is now tied with the Tampa Bay Lightning for the second-best championship odds in the East at 8%, according to HockeyStats.com. Overall, that's behind only the Carolina Hurricanes (22%) in the conference and three clubs from the West (Colorado Avalanche, Vegas Golden Knights and Edmonton Oilers).
Being tied for the fifth-best chance of raising Lord Stanley is a position Sabres fans will accept given the endless misery they experienced for more than a decade.
It felt like Bills quarterback Josh Allen would finally be the one to bring a championship parade to downtown Buffalo, and that may still happen before his Hall of Fame career comes to an end.
"Just for the city of Buffalo, I think it's a better place when the Sabres are playing well," Allen told reporters Monday.
He's right, and maybe it'll be Rasmus Dahlin, Tage Thompson and Co. who finally deliver that first major sports title to the sports-crazy folks on the shores of Lake Erie.
