The Buffalo Sabres were hardly among the most popular picks to make the playoffs at the beginning of the season. Well, only a handful of pundits thought the Sabres could even make the playoffs.
Some even went as far as to declare that the Sabres had no chance of making it to the postseason. Boy, were they wrong. And the Sabres social media administrator will not let them forget it.
Such is the case of hockey commentator Ryan Whitney. The Sabres trolled Whitney, both physically and online, as part of the team’s day of reckoning for doubters.
Hey sabrehood. Sabres Admin here.

We’ve been through a lot together. But specifically, I’VE been through a lot.
Tomorrow is the last day of the regular season, so it seems like a good time to get some things off my chest.
And so, today is now dedicated to the RECEIPTS.
The comical post on X came on the heels of the Sabres clinching the Atlantic Division title. That’s something just about no one saw coming at the beginning of the season.
But for those like Whitney, the Sabres' social media admin is not about to let them forget it.

The post shows a giant billboard with a picture of Whitney famously declaring that the Sabres have no chance of making the postseason.
“Buffalo’s not making the playoffs. 0.000%”
Next to the now-infamous quote is a picture showing the Sabres clinching the playoffs.
In Whitney’s defense, you can’t blame him for showing some skepticism. The Sabres started the season 0-3-0 and were 4-4-3 after the first month of the season. By the end of November, they were 10-11-4, and then, things just took off from there.
While Whitney deserves a break, the Sabres and their fans have every right to rub their Atlantic Division title in everyone’s faces.
Memes rule Sabres day of reckoning
Yes, Sabres memes rule the day. But these aren’t memes mocking them club. These are memes of vindication. They show how it feels to prove everyone who doubted you wrong.

Even if it seems like the Sabres are sore winners, who cares? The entire Sabres organization and fanbase have had to wait far too long for this moment. While we hope it’s just the beginning of a solid run of consistent playoff appearances, the first one is especially sweet.
In fact, some younger fans have never seen their beloved team hit the ice in the springtime. Well, here’s their chance.
Loyal Sabres fans, take the time to savor this moment. It’s a small consolation for the heartache endured all these years. There will hopefully be even more to cheer about in the coming days and weeks.
However this postseason turns out, one thing is certain: It’s going to be a heck of a ride!
