The Buffalo Sabres have reportedly been interested in trading for Detroit Red Wings' center Dylan Larkin. However, their interest didn't really matter because Larkin has a full no-trade clause and the Sabres were not one of the 10 teams he was willing to waive that clause to be traded to.

That could change in the next day or so based on some reporting by Elliotte Friedman. On Saturday, Friedman said that Larkin could be changing that list in the next "24-48 hours."

"Larkin, of course, announced this week that he was going to stay home and not play for the Red Wings again. As people may know by now, he has a 10-team trade list that he's willing to go to. I think over the next 24 to 48 hours, it's possible we see that trade list altered. Some teams like Florida and Vegas, even Colorado, it's very hard to see anything like that happening, if not impossible," Friedman said.

"I do think it's possible that Larkin may take some teams off, or possibly even add some teams on."

Buffalo Sabres are likely to be competing with the Montreal Canadiens to be added to the list

Larkin's initial list started at three teams during the offseason and then expanded it to 10 near the start of the season. The teams on that list had two notable similar characteristics as they were all in the United States and they were all among the top teams in terms of Stanley Cup contenders.

As Friedman mentions, some of the teams on that list were just unrealistic, as they might not have the cap space or the trade assets to get a deal done for Larkin. That is why teams like Florida and Colorado would probably come off.

Meanwhile, the Sabres, after missing out on Connor Hellebuyck, have reportedly expressed interest in Dylan Larkin. However, until Larkin is willing to waive that no-trade clause, it won't matter.

The Sabres also aren't the only Atlantic Division team trying to get on that list, as the Montreal Canadiens have been rumored to have a lot of interest in Larkin. The big advantage over Montreal is location, and it feels like this is a big factor in Larkin's decision of who he is willing to go to.

It is also interesting that Larkin could be willing to change his list now, after the Sabres are coming off a stretch of playing their best hockey of the season. They have won their last three games on the road and have gotten points in eight of their last nine games. The Sabres are looking a lot like the team from last season that would end up winning the division.
