NHL free agency is one of the most exciting events during the offseason. Talented players go to teams, some of which are completely unexpected. That is the beauty of free agency. For the Buffalo Sabres, they should be going all in this summer. With that being said, it's time for a brand new series.

In this new series, I will be choosing one player from each NHL team that the Sabres should try to sign. Up first, it's the Anaheim Ducks. The player that Buffalo should try to sign from the Ducks is forward Jakob Silfverberg. This season with Anaheim, Jakob played in 81 games played where he scored seven goals and recorded 12 assists. He was also a +4 this year.

While his numbers are nothing to get excited about, Silfverberg would be a good depth piece for Buffalo. The Sabres are a young team and Silfverberg could bring leadership to the squad. Even though he has not scored 20 goals since the 2019/2020 year, he could fit well on the third or fourth line for Buffalo.

At 33 years old, I don't think he would cost much. The last time he signed a contract was back in 2019, where the Ducks gave Jakob a 5 year, $26,250,000 contract with an AAV of $5,250,000. When it comes to importance, I don't think this is a must sign player that Buffalo should target.

There are other players out there, but in terms of an UFA from Anaheim, I would be okay with Silfverberg coming to the Sabres. Again, it's not someone to go crazy for. With that being said, Buffalo needs to revamp their bottom six and Jakob could be an option if they choose to go that direction.

With the Arizona Coyotes moving to Utah, the next team will be the Boston Bruins.
