If Buffalo Sabres fans thought they had seen the last of Kevyn Adams, they might have another thing coming.

Let’s back up for a second before getting into one of the most insane rumors hitting the airwaves this season.

Current Nashville Predators GM Barry Trotz announced his retirement on Monday. The club confirmed that Trotz would remain in his position while the club found his replacement.

That situation prompted TSN analyst Jeff O’Neill to float a wild idea. The Predators should bring in Kevyn Adams as Trotz’s replacement.

"If I was Nashville, I’d call Kevyn Adams."

The quote flashed in TSN’s official IG profile, meeting a flurry incredulous remarks from fans.

The comment is hardly an official rumor. It’s naught more than O’Neill’s musings on the situation. But what if the Predators took this opinion to heart? What if the club actually gives Adams another kick at the can?

It’s an interesting thought that could lead Sabres fans to see more of Kevyn Adams. At the very least, Sabres fans would get a yearly visit from Adams and the Predators.

Sabres fans may be kinder to Adams in the long run

Kevyn Adams had a fractured tenure in Buffalo. Fans and the media criticized several of his moves. One of the most controversial transactions was the JJ Peterka trade this past offseason.

However, the move has worked out better than anticipated. Josh Doan has become a huge part of the club. That move is one example of how Adams’ tenure has yielded the current lineup en route to potentially its first playoff appearance in a long while.

That’s why Sabres fans may be kinder to Adams down the line. If the Sabres end up winning a Stanley Cup with this roster iteration, Adams may even get a pass in Buffalo. While a resounding success may not completely absolve Adams in the hearts and minds of fans, success may dampen criticism.

Considering that Jarmo Kekalainen hasn’t made any significant roster moves, it can be assumed that Kekalainen’s culture change has been the difference. That difference has been night and day, with the Sabres now looking like world-beaters.

There’s enough runway for the club to climb out of wild-card territory and into one of the top three spots in the Atlantic Division.

The Sabres’ hot streak could be so significant that it might just ride into the postseason. Who knows, Buffalo may pull off a historic feat similar to the one the St. Louis Blues pulled off in 2019.
