The Buffalo Sabres had an early start time to Game 4 on Sunday, as they were on the road against the Boston Bruins. Luckily for Sabres fans, they showed up. The Bruins? Not so much.
Entering the first intermission, the Sabres held an early 4-0 lead, a start any Buffalo fan would sign up for. The Sabres had four different players get on the scoreboard, one of them being Josh Doan. The third-year player was able to secure his first career playoff goal to put Buffalo up 2-0, taking place just after the power play.
The Sabres entered the power play after the Bruins were penalized for having too many players on the ice. The Sabres put pressure on the Bruins for the full two minutes with an extra player advantage, before Doan was able to put the puck in the back of the net two seconds after the power play expired.

Sabres just miss out on ending power play drough on early Josh Doan goal in Game 4
After that missed power play opportunity, the Sabres have gone 0-for-37 with the extra skater advantage. While the drought didn't end, Buffalo looked really good on the power play, putting two shots on net. That doesn't count Doan's shot that got past Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman two seconds after the game went back to five-on-five hockey. Still, that may have been the most promising they have played with the extra skater advantage this month!
The reality is, the Sabres put pressure on Swayman throughout the first period, putting 19 shots on goal. Swayman could only stop so much, especially since the Bruins only managed five shots on goal the first 20 minutes of playing time, giving Alex Lyon an easy start to the day.
It's a start to Game 4 that all Sabres fans would have signed up for. We'll see if the Sabres can finally end their power play streak before Game 4 concludes.
