Kevyn Adams’ phone will ring nonstop until the deadline on March 8th at 3pm. One Sabre has been getting the most attention from several teams across the league. Right before Rob Ray's number 32 went into the rafters at KeyBank Center, the Sabres’ general manager went on WGR and spoke about what he wanted to get by the March 8th deadline. Adams ideal deadline addition to improve the teams who currently sit last in the east would be a “Hockey Trade”. In that radio interview, he also mentioned that he would like to keep Zucker and Greenway, who are pending UFAs at the end of the season. Doesn’t mean they are off the table in a trade, but certainly not shopping for them at this moment. However, Dylan Cozens remains a possibility for a trade.

Will the Sabres trade Dylan Cozens?

Waking up on a cold frosty morning in the first week of February after extending a win streak to three games, and the first report is that Dylan Cozens is rumored to Calgary as a potential trade destination. Calgary is already knee deep in the trade market as they are looking to add on to their Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee additions. The issue both teams run into in making a deal according to Pierre LeBurn of TSN, is that the Sabres are not currently shopping Cozens. As they have him under a new contract extension, and is still improvin his game at the age of 23. On the flip side, the Flames might not have enough trade capital to gain the talents of the former 7th overall pick. LeBurn says this type of trade will have to be a “Apple’s for Apple’s” trade. Meaning the Sabres would want a decent return for Cozens, and players to help contribute to the team. Craig Conroy, the general manager of the Flames, doesn’t seem interested in breaking the bank either. Trading for Cozens will mean Conroy will have to dip into his pool of top prospects, and he isn’t in the position where he will do so. Dylan Cozens’ market within the league is very high in the same reports from Pierre LeBurn. Two-thirds of the NHL already shown an interest in Cozens, but Calgary has been the most interested. Will the Flames get greedy enough to push the deal through?
