What a wild All-Star weekend, no? Alright, I’m kidding. Personally, I watched very little of the game last night and shut the skills competition off once they started to do the “relay race”– or as I call it, practice. It has finally arrived! The NHL All-Star Weekend kicks off in less than 24 hours and I can personally give a you know what. Sure, the NHL tried to mix things up a bit and adopt a “draft” formality instead of the typical East vs West or North America vs The World. For that, I give the NHL props. Much is being said about the Buffalo Sabres and a push to making the playoffs for the 2010-2011 campaign.  The thing with sneaking into the playoffs is, despite the feel good cinderella stories, the highest seed to ever win a Stanley Cup has been the New Jersey Devils, and that was in a lockout year (fifth seed).  Would you rather miss the playoffs for a better draft position, or have at least four more games to watch?  I wouldn’t mind losing in the first round of the playoffs, if the team showed up and actually got beat, not like last [...]

I’m back! Last night was the first game in two weeks I actually was able to watch and I was pretty happy with the results. Congratulations to Paul Byron on his first NHL goal and his second NHL point in as many games.
