town will begin the season with the Buffalo Sabres. Unlike the aforementioned goaltender, there is still a possibility of Vanek sticking by the Sabres throughout the rebuild and becoming the leader of a team full of rookies.

Vanek has stuck with the Sabres throughout his whole career and has consistently been one of their best forwards. He’s carried the team at times through his career and has hinted he’d be willing to carry them through the rebuild. If the Sabres play nice with Vanek and he’s willing to stay, then there’s no reason to get rid of him.
