Today is officially the last day of 2013. Can you believe another 365 days have flown by and we are once again celebrating the New Year? Since today is the last day of 2013 make sure you make today count and have some fun counting down the New Year. I’ll be downtown Nashville ringing in the New Year with a few thousand of my closest friends.

Since today is the last day of 2013, we thought it was high time we count down the 10 best and most beautiful goals from around the NHL in 2013. There were some amazing goals from around the league and it’s time roll out the tapes of all the highlight reel goals.

Here we go, prepare to be amazing and if you need a break half way through to go play some ball hockey we understand!

10. Dan Boyle

The fancy goals that go between the legs are great, but for me nothings gets me more excited than seeing a defenceman wheeling and dealing in his own end as he prepares to storm up the ice and take on the opposition single handedly. At number 10 on the list, that is exactly what Dan Boyle does as he goes coast to coast on butter toast to score this beautiful goal.

Sidney Crosby

Sidney Crosby is arguably the best hockey player in the NHL right now, heck one could even argue he’s the best in world as he continually gets better each time he steps on the ice. Everything Sid the kid touches seems to turn into gold, including this goal as he dangles his way through three opponents and the netminder to score this highlight reel goal

8. Zdeno Chara

When you go after larger players you generally have to sacrafice hands and agility for the size, but Zdeno Chara defied that logic in 2013 as he shows he can move like the best of them. At 6 foot 9, Chara utilizes his inner ballerina to pull off this dandy move.

7. Patrick Kane

One of the most lethal goal scorers in the NHL right now is Patrick Kane who continually powers the Chicago Blackhawks offence. Kane seems capable of doing it all. From scoring tieing goals, over time winners, goals that just automatically end up on the highlight reel and  punching cab drivers. Check out this sick move as Kane pots another goal.

6. Claude Giroux

I haven’t figured out if this goal is pure luck or skill from Girgoux- probably a little bit of both. Still this sweet goal scored by Giroux as he falls down facing away from the net will leave you scratching your head.

5. Pavel Datsyuk

I dare you to find a guy with better hands and moves slicker than Pavel Datsyuk. He has some of the best moves and is nearly immpossible to stop once he gets rolling. Here’s another classic from Datsyuk.

4. Evgeni Malkin

For this beautiful goal Malkin does his best Mario Lemieux impression as he dekes trough the Tampa Bay Lightning’s defence.

3. Mike Smith

It’s not every day in which a goaltender scores a goal himself in the opposing teams net, so when it happens you have to show it a little love. A goaltender has to be strong enough and quick enough to fire the puck down the ice and beat the buzzer as the clock ticks down.

2. Tomas Hertl

Tomas Hertl caused a lot trouble with his impressive fourth goal as he lit the lamp for the fourth time in his first four goal game. Sure he showed off a little bit, but if you got the skill why not use it? He’s a rookie and he scored four goals in a single game, if Mikhail Grigorenko accomplished the same feat we’d be pretty excited. Check out this sweet move by Sharks rookie Tomas Hertl.

2013 Goal of the Year award goes to Corey Perry

Corey Perry showed his strength and athleticism with this beautiful goal as he makes a break towards the Islanders net. On his way he gets tripped up and falls down to his knee’s but he manages to keep the puck in his possession as he elevates the puck for the goal of the year.

Honourable Mention- Butt Goal

While it wasn’t a goal of skill, one could argue that it was a goal of the year candidate. I mean how many times can the puck go into a goalies pants and accross the goal line?

Here’s the full goal in non-gif format
