Elmira Jackals fans can now start planning their lives between October and April, as the ECHL released its 2015-2016 season on Monday afternoon.

Buffalo Sabres fans can also start marking dates down on their calendars for making the drive to Elmira to see their ECHL club, if interested.

The ECHL season opens on Friday, October 16 with 22 teams in action across the league.

The Elmira Jackals open their season that night, hosting the newly-formed Adirondack Thunder in the first of a three-game homestand. The Jackals will then host the Brampton Beast the following night to close out the opening weekend. Capping off the homestand will be a game against Reading on October 23.

The Elmira Jackals will face their first road game on October 24, when they’ll visit Reading in the second half of a home-and-home with the Royals.

All in all, the Jackals will play five of their first six games at home, at First Arena in Elmira.

The longest home stretch for the Elmira Jackals will be a six-game stretch between January 8 and January 18. Manchester will visit twice; Norfolk, Reading, Adirondack and Brampton will also visit during that time.

The Elmira Jackals will also play a pair of afternoon home games against Adirondack and Brampton on January 17 (4:05 p.m.) and January 18 (1:05 p.m.) That’s a Sunday and Monday, as in the day prior to and President’s Day holiday.

The ECHL will feature several new teams next season, coming down from the AHL.

The Adirondack Thunder will make their Elmira debut on October 16, while the Manchester Monarchs visit for the first time on October 31. The Norfolk Admirals will visit on November 13.

Overall, the Elmira Jackals will face 11 different teams in the 2015-2016 season. Eight teams will visit Elmira – Adirondack, Brampton, Kalamazoo, Manchester, Norfolk, Orlando, Reading and Wheeling – with the Jackals also playing in those cities as well.

The Jackals will also visit the Florida Everblades, South Carolina Stingrays and Toledo Walleye, but those teams will not make a trip to Elmira.

The Jackals close out the season with a home-and-home against Brampton on April 8 and 9. They’ll close out the season at home on Saturday, April 9th with a 7:05 p.m. puck drop.

The early schedule releases allows teams to begin planning promotional game nights, which the ECHL tends to have many of.
