Sabres prospects Jack Quinn and Dylan Cozens have made Team Canada’s roster for the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship.
The Buffalo Sabres have two prospects playing on Team Canada for the upcoming International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship. Jack Quinn and Dylan Cozens are both Sabres prospects that made the final roster for Team Canada.
A recent tweet by the Team Canada World Junior Twitter account showed the team lines, and Quinn and Cozens were both featured on the top line. This could provide some idea of what we could be seeing in the future once Quinn and Cozens make it to the NHL.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with these two Sabres prospects, I will provide a quick summary of who they are. Buffalo fans should get used to hearing their names over the next few seasons, as I feel like they will be making an impact in the NHL very soon.
Jack Quinn was drafted by the Sabres in the 2020 NHL draft at eighth overall. Quinn is only 19 years old, and he is listed at 6 ft 1 in and 181 lbs and is a forward. Quinn has been a member of the Ottawa 67’s in the OHL since the 2017-2018 season. In his time in the OHL, he has played in 131 games and has 64 goals and 58 assists. His 2019-2020 season alone produced 52 goals and 27 assists in 62 games.
Dylan Cozens was the seventh pick in the 2019 NHL draft by the Sabres. Cozens is also only 19 years old and he is listed at 6 ft 3 in and 198 lbs and, like Quinn, is a forward. Cozens has been an absolute force in the WHL playing for the Lethbridge Hurricanes the last few seasons.
In the last two seasons, he put up 84 and 85 points. In the 2018-2019 season, he tallied 34 goals and 50 assists in 68 games. In 2019-2020 he had 38 goals and 47 assists in only 51 games. So, it is safe to say that he has been extremely productive in his time in the WHL.
Both of these 19-year-olds provide some potentially exciting play in the coming years for the Buffalo Sabres. It is very rare to see two prospects with so much promise that are a part of the same organization. Sabres fans should be feeling really good about these two and what they will produce in the future.
