The Buffalo Sabres will take the ice tonight for the third game of their season. They will play in Philadelphia against the Flyers at 7:30 pm. The Sabres are still searching for their first win of the season after dropping their first two games to the Capitals last week.

The Flyers have started the season red hot. They are coming off two wins over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Philadelphia won their first game 6-3 and their second game 5-2, so two dominant performances to open their season.

The Flyers currently rank first in goals per game and power play percentage so far in this young season. So it seems that the Sabres may have their hands full trying to contain this high-powered Flyers offense. If you are looking for a full breakdown of what to expect from the Flyers, check out our piece on them here.

In terms of who to watch for the Flyers, keep an eye out for Morgan Frost. He looks like he will get a chance with some serious playing time while one of the Flyers’ best players, Sean Couturier, recovers from a costochondral separation. Couturier will be sidelined for at least two weeks.

Frost looks like he will be slotted in as a second-line center while Couturier is recovering. The 21-year-old has yet to play in a game this year, but played in 20 games for Philly last year, tallying two goals and seven points total over those games.

There will be nothing new in terms of Sabres injuries even though Sam Reinhart missed practice yesterday after suffering a lower-body injury on Friday night, but he will make the trip to Philadelphia. Kyle Okposo is still listed as OUT.

The Sabres will have their hands full with a Flyers team that looks to have come out of the gates hot to start the season. Let’s hope that this back-to-back goes better for Buffalo than the last one did.
