The Buffalo Sabres will play their fourth game of the season against the Capitals this afternoon at 3 pm. The Sabres are yet to get a win vs Washington this season, as they are 0-2-1 against the Caps so far in this young season. They will look to change that today and hand the Capitals their first regulation loss of the season.

Buffalo fell to the Capitals on Friday night 4-3 in a shootout. Washington will still be without four of their key players, just like they were on Friday, due to violating the league’s COVID-19 protocol.

The Sabres will look to take advantage of their opportunities better than they have in their first five games. They average over 30 shots on goal per game, but they are also averaging less than three goals per game.

The Sabres are expecting to get veteran forward Kyle Okposo back tomorrow. Okposo has not played in a game yet this year. His veteran presence will be of great value for the Sabres once he returns.

The goalie matchup for today’s game is expected to be the same two netminders that we saw on Friday night. The Sabres are expected to start Linus Ullmark, and the Capitals are expected to start Vitek Vanecek.

It is pretty early in the season to start calling games “must-win games”, but the Sabres must be getting desperate for another win as they have been playing well as of late, but they have been unable to turn that quality play into wins.
