The Buffalo Sabres have plenty of young talent throughout their organization, from the NHL to the collegiate level.
Buffalo Sabres right-winger Jack Quinn was off to a fantastic start to his career after receiving a recall to the NHL level. In his first two games, Quinn logged two points with one goal and one assist while averaging 14:53 seconds of ice time.
Then he suffered a lower-body injury that kept him out of action for nearly two months. Quinn’s NHL debut showed promise, and the injury was undoubtedly a setback. However, Quinn took the ice on Tuesday, March 1st, for the first time since suffering the injury. Check out the video below to see Quinn in action during the team’s practice session.
Buffalo Sabres right-winger Jack Quinn returns to the ice
Quinn won’t return to the NHL ranks off the bat, however. Following Tuesday’s practice, the Sabres assigned him back to Rochester, where he will join an Amerks team the injury bug has hit hard.
Just a little over one week ago, Brandon Biro made his NHL debut before returning to Rochester. However, he limped off the ice during a tilt with the Toronto Marlies following a hip check. Biro’s injury is the latest in a plethora of them in Rochester that includes Ryan MacInnis, Sean Malone, and Michael Mersch.
Of course, the Sabres recalled forwards like Peyton Krebs, who has since received ample time on the team’s second and third lines. With all the injuries and recalls to players like Krebs, Quinn has a chance to pick up where he left off before his injury.
And during his first go-around in Rochester this season, he put up gaudy numbers. In just 24 games, Quinn logged 35 points, 18 goals, and 17 assists. If he continues his dominance in the AHL ranks, expect to see him recalled back to the Sabres sooner than later.
The Sabres eighth overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, the organization expects Quinn to contribute to the team’s budding nucleus of young talent. He did it once and showed flashes at the NHL level. Expect him to do so again.
