Extend or trade Victor Olofsson
Olofsson was arguably the best forward on the Buffalo Sabres from February 15th-onward. But we also can’t forget about his stagnating tenure with the team. This past season, he suffered a three-month scoring drought following a wrist injury.
While it is possible that Olofsson returned before he was ready, it doesn’t take away from the fact that he was non-existent for half the season. So the question is: Do the Sabres believe Olofsson’s production was nothing more than a short stint, or a sign of things to come?
If it is the latter, expect the winger to remain in the blue and gold for the next five to seven seasons. But if the Sabres believe otherwise, they will trade Olofsson this offseason. We will find out what will happen in July.
Overall, the Sabres have a few more pressing priorities to tackle. But the above priorities should be the most pressing if the team figures to contend for its first playoff berth since 2010-11. Expect some new faces in Buffalo. But you can also expect them to try and retain a few familiar faces.
