The Buffalo Sabres prospect pool will be well-represented at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championships. Who made the final cut?
The IIHF World Junior Championships is right around the corner. And since this tournament was initially backed up to August of this season, you won’t see the same Buffalo Sabres prospects on the rosters that you would have seen between December 26th, 2021 and January 5th, 2022.
Therefore, there is no Owen Power or J.J. Peterka in this tournament, and for good reason. The Sabres kind of need them on the main roster this year. But don’t fear, there are still three high-end prospects you can look forward to watching at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championships this month. Let’s meet them.
Meet the Buffalo Sabres prospects that will represent their countries at the 2022 IIHF Worlds: Prospect #1 – Isak Rosen, W/Sweden
Rosen will most likely make the jump to North America this season and play with the Rochester Americans. And if the situation calls, you could see him making an appearance for the Buffalo Sabres in a one-off fashion, but it is a big if.
However, you will see the Swedish playmaker suiting up for his country in the 2022 IIHF World Juniors and he is a seasoned vet on Team Sweden, having played in the U18 Worlds, taking on nine points in seven games. He also saw time on the U20 team, recording three points and one goal in nine contests.
Rosen’s game is exciting to watch, as he is one of the quicker, more agile skaters on the ice. Despite his quickness and slim build, don’t underestimate his powerful shot. While it is true that Rosen’s numbers have not wowed anyone, it will be interesting to see if he can light up the stat sheet prior to his potential move to North America.
