The 2022-23 Buffalo Sabres season isn’t just around the corner: You can literally see the start-finish line, it’s so close.

In 2022-23, the Buffalo Sabres and their fans are more optimistic about this team than they have been in years. Therefore, you are going to see more interest in the events listed below, meaning for the first time in years, your Sabres might just be watchable for an extended period.

So while you enjoy the crisp, scenic weather that only an October in Buffalo can bring, the Sabres also deserve your attention. No, no one is expecting playoffs this year or even a good season. But an improved one that is full of interesting prospects and a team that is one year older and one year more experienced.

Three reasons why you need to pay attention to the Buffalo Sabres in September 2022 – Reason #1: 2022 Prospects Challenge

From September 15th to September 19th at the LECOM Harborcenter, the Buffalo Sabres will be hosting the 2022 Prospects Challenge. You will find Sabres prospects competing with those from five other NHL franchises, so it will give us a live look at how up and coming players in the system fare against unfamiliar faces.

Three Atlantic Division rivals, the Boston Bruins, Ottawa Senators, and Montreal Canadiens, will join the Sabres prospects that week. The Metropolitan’s Pittsburgh Penguins and New Jersey Devils are also taking part.

They say the Sabres have either the best or one of the best prospect pools in the NHL, and this is their chance to claim that spot. But it will be no easy task, as there are nine former first round picks in the other five pools who could be potentially playing.

The Sabres prospects will open the round-robin with a game against the Canadiens on September 15th at 7pm. Their next contest occurs on the 17th at 7pm against the Devils, and their final game, which also closes out the event, is slated for September 19th at 1:30.
