When asked about the Buffalo Sabres, forward Jack Eichel played the nice guy role with his comments regarding his former team.
I don’t need to rehash the hash over what former Buffalo Sabres forward said about the fans the last time he met with the Blue and Gold. We know what he said, and much respect lost. But Eichel, when asked about last year’s trade working out for each team, he had some surprising words. Check out the two Tweets shared from Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News.
Jack Eichel today here in Toronto on #Sabres- #VGK working out for both sides: "I wish all those guys the best. I feel like I was a part of that organization for a lot of years & made a lot of great relationships. I care about those guys, & I want to see them have success. (1/2)

More Eichel: "I'm not somebody who leaves and wishes bad upon anyone. I just don't really believe in that. I'm really happy in my situation and it's nice to see that they've been doing well." (2/2) #Sabres #VGK

Hey, I’ll be honest, I know there is much animosity toward Eichel and the Vegas Golden Knights, but at the end of the day, would their success really negatively impact the Sabres? In a manner of speaking, it could, but it probably won’t, unless Vegas knocked the Sabres out of playoff contention if the schedule meshed, or if Vegas beat Buffalo in the Stanley Cup Final.
Eichel’s comments show zero animosity toward the Buffalo Sabres
Okay, so Eichel insulted the fanbase following Vegas’ loss to the Sabres on March 10th. It’s easy to see why some of those comments were unforgiving, but I’m one who judges people on their present, and not necessarily their past.
I’ve said some things in my own past that were foolish, and I’m sure you have too. We’re all guilty, and in all honesty, what Eichel said back in March was foolish, but it shouldn’t necessarily define him in the eyes of Buffalo Sabres fans.
Sure, while I’d like to see the Sabres triumph over the Knights regarding the trade (who in Buffalo wouldn’t?), I’m no longer going to keep comparing Buffalo’s success this season to Vegas’, assuming Eichel doesn’t say anything out of line following another loss.
So if Eichel is going to take the classy approach, so will I. But if he says anything foolish against the Sabres again, I will be more than happy to root against Eichel and his Knights.
