The Buffalo Sabres have looked like a completely different team since their losing streak kicked off two weeks ago against Carolina.

The Buffalo Sabres started off their 2022-23 season hot, with a 7-3-0 record in which many of their games saw them embark on goal-scoring frenzies. And it all started on October 13th against an Ottawa Senators team that supposedly had playoff aspirations.

As it stands, the Sabres and Senators are the two worst teams in the Atlantic Division. And despite the Senators having accumulated even fewer points, it does not make them a less-formidable opponent.

Just under 24 hours ago, the Sabres lost their footing against the Vancouver Canucks at home. They had to take a light-night flight to Ottawa, where they will face the Senators in a back-to-back. So do they have a chance to end the streak tonight? Let’s discuss.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Senators Odds – Game 17

Per Fan Duel, the Buffalo Sabres are currently +1.5 underdogs to the Senators. The Over/Under sits at 6.5, and the Sabres moneyline is +138. The Senators moneyline is -166.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Senators Prediction – Game 17

The Sabres just seem to have no way out of this six-game losing streak, and it is hard to envision them snapping it tonight. Back-to-backs are never desirable, especially when you are taking a flight across the border and setting up shop at 1am after suffering from a humiliating loss to a lesser talented team.

Therefore, I see no real way that the Sabres will win this game. They could make it a nail-biter, so let’s say they fall 5-4 in this one given their sheer lack of productive play in the defensive zone. Last night, the defense left a lot of open lanes for the Canucks and they seemed to be unable to clear the puck and nix plays that Vancouver set up.

With no real time to practice and correct those errors in this one, it just isn’t happening tonight. Hopefully, they can take advantage of two rest days and take it to their biggest rival, the Toronto Maple Leafs, on Saturday.
