The Buffalo Sabres head into San Jose to take on the Sharks in yet another must-win matchup as they have a gauntlet of games coming up.

The Buffalo Sabres are a young group, and they find themselves just a few points behind the two wild card teams. So when they face a lesser-talented team like the Sharks, it’s a godsend. These are games the Sabres have no choice but to win.

A victory takes them two points closer to snagging a wild card spot, and it will give them 60 points on the season, just 15 shy of the 75 they accumulated in all of 2021-22. But they’ll also have a gauntlet coming up, with games against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, and Washington Capitals on the horizon.

So will the Sabres win the game they’re supposed to win? Let’s check out the odds and make a prediction.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Sharks Odds – Game 54

Per Fan Duel, the Buffalo Sabres are -1.5 favorites on the road against the Sharks. The Over/Under is 7, and the Sabres moneyline is -120. The Sharks moneyline is +100.

Buffalo Sabres vs. Sharks Prediction – Game 54

If the Sabres played the way they did in their win over the Anaheim Ducks, sans the seven miserable minutes they had in the second period, they can win this hockey game. One of the best scoring teams in the league, when Buffalo keeps things simple, they will find twine a lot, literally four-plus times per game.

But when things go awry, it’s when you see them overcomplicate their game and struggle. That won’t happen tonight against a weaker team like San Jose. While the Sabres have played to their competition at times, they are coming off of a blowout win against a weak opponent, and their record on the road against the West speaks volumes.

The situation is perfect for a Sabres win, and you should expect another high-octane performance in tonight’s contest. Buffalo scores at least four goals in this one and comes away victorious.
