Jeff Skinner had an outstanding year with the Buffalo Sabres. Here is a deeper dive into the best season of his long NHL career.

Remember when people were saying Jeff Skinner’s contract was a complete overpay and he was not worth the money? Well, I don’t think that’s the case anymore. In this article, I’m going to take a deeper dive into Jeff’s 2022-2023 season and his future with the Buffalo Sabres.

Skinner had another good season with Buffalo. In 79 games played this year, he scored 35 goals and registered 47 assists for 82 points. Remember when Ralph Krueger was the coach and Jeff was on the fourth line? For those two rough seasons, Skinner scored 21 goals combined in that span.

Under Don Granato, Skinner is back to being the talented goal scorer we know and love. For the sixth time in his career, he has scored at least 30 goals in a season. Not only does he have a coach who knows what he is doing, but Skinner is also playing with some talented players.

Playing with Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch has it’s benefits and Skinner is definitely taking advantage of it.

Jeff Skinner had his finest campaign yet with the Buffalo Sabres

As you can see in the tweet I quoted above, Jeffery has reached 80 points for the first time ever. It’s pretty clear playing with good players and having an actual NHL coach is paying dividends for the seventh overall pick in the 2010 NHL Draft.

It’s absolutely mind boggling that it took Cliff Pu to get Skinner. Sabres fans don’t need to worry about him being bad because it’s pretty clear he is back to being the player we envisioned getting after trading for him.

The star of Between Two Stall’s fits in well with this group and from a fans perspective, how can you not love King Jeffery? That contract is looking pretty good if you ask me and totally worth what he is making. With how good of a goal scorer he is, he will be a staple in this lineup for years to come.
