Just so you know, the average age, without counting the top four blueliner whose name I will not drop, is 24.1. Overall, this is a younger hockey team, but one with the potential to not only earn their first trip to the postseason in 13 years, but to also contend for a half-decade at the absolute least.
Sure, there is a lot of youth still on this team, and that can scare some analysts. But there is also a lot of talent and a lot of experience, which will make up for some growing pains we will see from Savoie, Kulich, and potentially, Rousek.
I will also expect a bit of a learning curve from Power and his partner on the second line. Although I see the two building eventual chemistry, don’t be surprised if some dysfunction exists during the first 20 or so games of the season.
Do I believe this young Buffalo Sabres roster will contend? Absolutely, or else I’d have constructed it differently. And when Kevyn Adams returns before the puck drops in October, he would only need to work on maintaining the lineup that’s now built to win.
