All signs point to the Buffalo Sabres trading Victor Olofsson. And that is the right choice. Here is why it’s the correct option.

As everyone is aware, it seems like Victor Olofsson’s time in Buffalo is coming to an end. It’s unfortunate that we are at this point because a few years ago, Olofsson was brought into Buffalo and everyone was very excited about the Swedish forward.

Even though it may seem risky to let a goal scorer like Victor go, I believe it’s for the best. Before I tell you why it’s the best option, let’s take a look at his stats. In three of his five seasons, he has scored at least 20 goals. In fact, this year was his best in terms of scoring as he would score 28 goals.

All around, he had his best season in 2021-22 when he scored 20 goals and registered 29 assists for 49 points in 72 games played. With that being said, let’s get into why this is a good thing. First and foremost, general manager Kevyn Adams could get a solid piece in return.

Buffalo Sabres could get a better-than-advertised piece for Olofsson

Say what you want to say about Victor but he is a goal scorer. When you can get at least 20 goals in a season, that’s a good benchmark. I know people want to label him as a power play merchant, but he has a lethal shot.

The other reason, he isn’t bad, just inconsistent. For a guy who likes to score, Olofsson tends to get into slumps throughout the season. Some of it is getting unlucky, but for the strangest reason, he just could not build a consistent season.

For example, he would score then go the longest time without scoring a goal. Now I know every player has struggles but for Victor, it seems to becoming a habit for him. As mentioned earlier, it’s unfortunate letting a scorer like Olofsson go. We don’t know where he will go or when, but I believe Adams can add a key piece if/when he trades Victor.
