86th overall: Carsen Musser, G/USNTDP
Here’s where things get different. I didn’t take a goaltender until the fifth round a few days back, but I decided to go with Carsen Musser here, The 18-year-old’s size (6’4, 214 lb) jumped out at me. As did his overall confidence. Let him develop for a few more seasons, and the Buffalo Sabres could have something here if they took him tomorrow.
109th overall: Andrei Loshko, F/Chicoutimi Sagueneens
It’s not often when a player that’s scored 70 points in 67 regular season games yet is often touted as a defensive forward falling to you, so when I saw Andrei Loshko on the board, I wasn’t passing on him. If the Buffalo Sabres want a prospect who, the more I read on him, gives me Peyton Krebs vibes, Loshko should be their guy.
141st overall: Ian Blomquist, G/Vasteras IK
At 6’2, 185 lb, some may pass on Ian Blomquist, but the fact that he looked good playing in Sweden’s second-tier league, Allsvenskan, caught my eye. Yeah, it’ll be a while before he comes to North America, but given his overall calm demeanor-something that already impresses us about Devon Levi, means he could be a good fit for the system.
