Last year, the Buffalo Sabres had next to nothing going for them in fantasy hockey, but they are singing a different tune in 2023-24.

There was little to get excited about the Buffalo Sabres from a fantasy hockey standpoint this time last year. But with so much offense among their top two lines, and a pair of two-way defensemen, it’s no surprise that the Fantasy Hockey Staff at NHL.com ranked four players in the Top 101.

So which Sabres should you have your eye on in your respective fantasy hockey draft this season that NHL.com ranked highly for the upcoming season? Keep reading to discover four names, along with a trio of honorable mentions.

Top Buffalo Sabres players in fantasy hockey for 2023-24

1 – Tage Thompson, C (12th)

With 47 goals and 47 assists last season, it’s easy to see why Tage Thompson will be a first round pick in many leagues with 12 or more teams, or at least a high-round pick in smaller leagues. After a pair of back-to-back productive seasons in the Queen City, Tage is just now hitting his prime and is poised for yet another big year.

The only issue regarding Tage is that, as the Buffalo Sabres gain more experienced and get better on the defensive side, it could cut into his points total. Even so, Tage is still going to enjoy another big year in 2023-24, likely pacing the Blue and Gold in points once more.

2 – Rasmus Dahlin, D (31st)

If Rasmus Dahlin wasn’t forced to play through injuries as the season reached its latter stages, he could have reached the 80-point threshold. He can also quarterback power plays, which gives him even more chances to land points this season.

One knock is that fellow number one overall pick Owen Power has a year under his belt and he could cut into Dahlin’s production. Despite Power’s potential rise, a healthy Dahlin should at least hit the 70-point margin.
