In this new series, the contributors at Sabre Noise will be doing monthly predictions about the Buffalo Sabres upcoming 2023-24 season.

If you recall last year, I did a monthly prediction of the Buffalo Sabres season. Well, I am going to do it again! Sabre Noise is going to be doing a monthly predictions from our contributors and try to predict the Sabres record.

For the month of October, Buffalo will be playing a total of nine games. Their first game of the season will be their home opener as they will host the New York Rangers. Going back to last season, Buffalo and New York had a thrilling season series.

All three games needed more than 60 minutes and while it will be a close game, I think the Sabres win their first game of the season in front of the home crowd. A couple of days later. the team will hit the road to face the other New York team, the Islanders.

The Sabres and Islanders were battling to the end for a playoff spot last year and while I have Buffalo losing this game, I think they will at least gain a point. After the Islanders game, the Sabres will have a four game homestand.

Up first, the Tampa Bay Lightning. Buffalo had a decent season last year against Tampa but unfortunately, I predict the Sabres to lose this one in regulation. Two days later, the Calgary Flames will come to town.

After losing two games in a row, Buffalo will bounce back with a win in this one. The Islanders will see the Sabres again with this contest being held in KeyBank Center. I got Buffalo getting revenge in this one as I have them defeating the Isles.

Buffalo Sabres will go through a bit of a roller coaster in October 2023

To close out the homestand, Buffalo will see Montreal for the first time and I see the Sabres ending the homestand on a good note with a victory. Buffalo will fly to Ottawa for a game the next night as the Senators will see them for the first time.

Buffalo and Ottawa could have a new rivalry possibly brewing as both are young and talented teams. It will be a close game and I see the Sabres winning this one either in overtime or a shootout.

A few days later, Buffalo will go to where they were eliminated from playoff contention last season. New Jersey. The Devils are a very good team and even though I expect big things from the Sabres this year, I think they will fall in this one.

For the final game in October, Buffalo will host the Colorado Avalanche for a Sunday matinee. In what will be a close and competitive game, I think the Sabres win this one in extra time.

So there you have it, I predict Buffalo to start off strong in October. A lot of these games will be tough and hardfought wins, but they will have a good start to the 2023-2024 season.
