Last week, I predicted the Buffalo Sabres to have a solid first half of December. What do I think their second half will look like?
The Buffalo Sabres should be in good shape as they head into the second half of December. To close out the month, they will have a total of six games. After a three game road trip on the West Coast, the Sabres will have two home games in a row.
Up first, the Columbus Blue Jackets. I got Buffalo getting the victory in this one. Then, the Toronto Maple Leafs will come into town just two days later. We know how much these two teams dislike each other but I see the Maple Leafs defeating the Sabres.
Before the Christmas break, Buffalo will head to Madison Square Garden for a meeting with the Rangers. I also have the Sabres losing this one but in a overtime or shootout. Buffalo’s final two home games of 2023 will have them hosting the Boston Bruins and Blue Jackets once again.
How will the Buffalo Sabres finish the month of December?
They will look to avoid losing three games in a row against Boston but I think that will be the case as I have the Bruins taking this one. Once again, Buffalo will host Columbus. The Sabres will win their final home game of 2023.
Before turning the page to 2024, Buffalo will travel to Ottawa for a New Year’s Eve game against the Senators. In what will be a competitive and hard fought game for both teams, I have Buffalo prevailing in overtime or the shootout.
So there you have it. Heading into January, I have the Sabres at 23-12-3 with 49 points. Looking at the record, they are in good shape. Where will that have them be in the Atlantic Division? I think it’s tough to say at this moment.
However, this will have them either in a wild card spot or in the mix. I think you will take that if you’re a Sabres fan as the team embarks on the year of 2024.
