The Buffalo Sabres factor in as a much better team in 2023-24 than they have been in a while, or at least that’s the case on paper.
If you have been following my predictions for the Buffalo Sabres season (not the 75 In 75 Series, but the season predictions), you will notice that I opted to take a rather realistic approach with them.
But, I also wanted to take a BOLD approach in this article, and since we’re at Prediction 30, why not sit here and state that the Sabres will earn 30 points in October and November? Doing the math, the Blue and Gold play 23 games combined in those two months, and when they hit the 30-point mark, they’re looking at 1.30 points per game, putting them on an ultra-bold pace for 107 points this season.
Buffalo Sabres accumulate 30 points in their first month-and-a-half
So how can your Blue and Gold get to 30 in the first 23? For this prediction, they will do the following:
- Win that home opener!
- Beat every team they’re supposed to beat, or are rather evenly matched with: Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary, Philadelphia (twice), Pittsburgh (twice), Winnipeg, Chicago, St. Louis, and Washington.
- Upset Toronto – Because, you know, the Sabres are pretty good at that sometimes.
- Become road warriors toward the end of November against the New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers.
And just like that, the Sabres have 30 points. Now, I’m going to be real and say that I’d rather see them get hot toward the end of the season, but if they surge off with an immaculate start in October and November, there is one important thing to understand: These aren’t your 2018-19 Sabres, so if the aforementioned occurs, don’t expect them to sputter.
Overall, I’m still taking a realistic approach, but if the Blue and Gold can get into a rhythm against teams they are supposed to beat, pull off a few upsets, and one successful road trip, then your Buffalo Sabres can and will ace the 30-point mark by November 30th.
