The Buffalo Sabres have yet to defeat the Seattle Kraken. And it’s why fans should look forward to the team facing them in January 2024.
The Buffalo Sabres have yet to beat one opponent, the Seattle Kraken. In the two seasons Buffalo has faced Seattle, the Sabres are 0-4 against the most recent NHL expansion franchise. For whatever reason, Buffalo can never solve Seattle.
For the next installment of games fans should be looking forward to, my January selection is the game against the Kraken on January 9th. The reason why I’m looking forward to this game is pretty simple, it’s to see if Buffalo can finally slay the Kraken.
The saying “third time’s a charm” could take meaning this year. Even though Buffalo couldn’t beat Seattle in the third matchup, third time’s a charm could mean the third season. Seattle is a very good team as well so if the Sabres take them down, it won’t be easy.
Can the Buffalo Sabres finally beat the Kraken in 2023-24?
In just their second year as a franchise, the Kraken made the postseason and won a playoff series as they took down the previous Stanley Cup champs the Colorado Avalanche. I expect Seattle to be in the postseason again, so Buffalo will have a challenge in both games.
Even though I have the Sabres falling short in my January predictions, here’s why this season could be different. As I have stated numerous times, I think Buffalo takes a leap this season. Even though they’re still young, they had a really good outing last year.
If they can take what they had last season and improve on that, then we’re talking about a playoff team. In order to make the postseason, you’re going to have to beat good teams so why not end the spell and beat Seattle this season?
You have a better chance of beating them at home rather than on the road especially since that second meeting will be during a road trip. So in conclusion, I’m looking forward to this matchup because the Kraken are good but the Sabres need to beat them at some point. We’ll see either way.
