Buffalo Sabres prospect Matt Savoie captured his first goal in the Rochester Americans big win over the Laval Rocket on Friday night.

While the Buffalo Sabres dropped their final 20 minutes in Jersey, Matt Savoie was once again busy making his presence felt with the Rochester Americans. The other night, he scored the first point of his professional hockey career, before he took things one step further on Friday and scored his first goal.

Savoie was one of five Amerks to find the net, along with Lukas Rousek, Mason Jobst, Brandon Biro, and Isak Rosen. Yeah, the top prospects went all-out in what became a huge 7-4 win over the Laval Rocket. But Sabres fans everywhere have got to be satisfied with what Savoie has given them in his two games with the Amerks so far.

Many of us were probably watching the Blue and Gold struggle their way to another early-season defeat in that third period. So if you missed Savoie’s goal, check it out below:

Although Savoie has looked great from a points production standpoint so far in what will be a brief stint in Rochester, the night belonged to Mason Jobst, whose hat trick helped steamroll the Amerks to their big win more than anything else. He scored Goals No. 1 and 2 at the 13:42 and 14:35 marks of the first period, before securing the hat trick at the 15:27 mark in the third.

If it wasn’t for the NHL-CHL Agreement that limits the options for players from the CHL under age 20 to see time at the AHL level, Matt Savoie would spend the entire season there. The 19-year-old has shown that he can play professional hockey, and with two points so far, he has also been one of the more productive players on the team in the early going.
