Frank Seravelli, a few weeks ago, had leaked that Sabres winger JJ Peterka was frustrated with the team's progress and was looking to get out of Buffalo. Sabres fans can take this with a grain of salt, as Seravelli isn’t the most trusted source in the hockey world at the moment.

With Peterka still on everyone’s mind, we have three mock trades the Sabres can make if they do decide to trade Peterka.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Toronto Receives:
JJ Peterka

Sabres Receive:
Ben Danford
Jacob Quillan
2026 First-Round Pick

The Maple Leafs are in desperate need of another winger, with Mitch Marner most likely not returning in free agency. Peterka would be an excellent piece for them, and they would be willing to pay a good price for him.

The Sabres would gain the Leafs' 2026 first-round pick and prospects Ben Danford and Jacob Quillian. Danford has the chance to be a top NHL prospect in just a couple of years, as the captain of the Oshawa Generals put up another great season in the OHL.

Jacob Quillan is a current top-15 prospect in the Leafs organization, and in his first season of pro hockey with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL, Quillan posted 37 points in 68 games. Quillan could be a great piece in Rochester and can be on the Sabres within a few years.

Seattle Kraken

Kraken Receive:
JJ Peterka

Sabres Receive:
Adam Larsson
2026 Third-Round pick
Jani Nyman

The Seattle Kraken offense was up and down this year, as they finished with a 2.99 goals per game average, but ranked at the bottom for power-play percentage and shots per game. With the emergence of Kappo Kakko, the Kraken could add another versatile winger in Peterka.

The Sabres would get Adam Larsson, a veteran defenseman who was solid for the Kraken this year with 28 points in all 82 games, and a plus-minus of +22. The Sabres would get a third-round pick from the Kraken and also get Jani Nyman.

Nyman is a top-10 prospect in the Kraken organization. He made his debut with the Kraken this year, putting up three goals in 12 games. As well as putting up 44 points in 58 games with the Coachella Valley Firebirds of the AHL. Both teams will benefit from this, and it could be a win-win trade for both.

Chicago Blackhawks

Blackhawks Receive:
JJ Peterka

Sabres Receive:
2025 First-Round Pick #25
Ryan Greene
Nolan Allan

The Chicago Blackhawks want to pair another winger next to Connor Bedard in hopes of turning their rebuild around. With Peterka presumably available, this would be the perfect chance for Chicago to use some of their cap space and cash in on an up-and-coming player.

The Sabres would receive the Blackhawks' other first-round pick in this year's draft that they acquired from the Maple Leafs. They would also acquire defenceman Nolan Allan and prospect Ryan Greene.

Allan finished his rookie season with 43 games played and eight points to his name. His plus-minus wasn’t pretty, but at just 22 years old, Allan can easily fix that. The other player involved, Ryan Greene, is a top-10 prospect with the Hawks.

He currently plays at Boston University, where he was named captain for the 2024-2025 season. He put up 36 points in his 40-game campaign and made his NHL debut with Chicago at the end of the year.

The Sabres would gain two NHL-ready players and could develop them into a core piece for the franchise moving forward.
