An unfortunate update on JJ Peterka

JJ Peterka's future is up in the air in Buffalo, and the Sabres may not have the young winger going into next season.

JJ Peterka has been in the headlines for the last month or so. While it's important for Buffalo to do whatever it takes to keep Peterka around, it does seem like the Sabres are listening on offers for the German forward.

On his podcast "32 Thoughts", Elliotte Friedman said that Buffalo has had a change of plans regarding Peterka. At first, they did not want to move him. Recently, "they are at least now listening on it and I think that's recent", Friedman said.

This is the last thing any Sabres fan needed to hear. "People know Peterka isn't happy and it's believed he would like to go somewhere else and I just think reality is sinking in a little bit", Friedman added.

While most fans are not surprised by this, it's still disheartening to hear. Nothing has changed in the last decade or so. Despite having one season where they were just one point out of the playoffs, it's been nothing but long, losing seasons in Buffalo.

As a diehard fan like most of the people who watch the Sabres, this is a result of bad management. While general manager Kevyn Adams has done very little good things, nothing has changed. You don't need me to remind you what happens when elite players leave Buffalo and go to other teams because there are way too many examples.

It sounds like the Sabres don't want to trade JJ and why would they? He is one of the better younger players in the league and I don't think he's reached his ceiling. But with where the franchise is and the current state of the player, it sounds like they'll at least listen around and see what teams would offer.

Only time will tell but if Buffalo does move JJ, it will be yet another example of a talented player leaving the Sabres and depending on where he gets traded (if he gets traded), could thrive and make the postseason and possibly win the Stanley Cup.

This is another call to Mr. Kevyn Adams to actually make a splash in the offseason and get more players who can make Buffalo a playoff team. Regardless, not great hearing this about Peterka.
