The Buffalo Sabres certainly have questions about their top forward line entering the season. Right now, the plan looks to be Zach Benson and Josh Norris joining Tage Thompson, and on Saturday afternoon, that line worked perfectly together to set up Rasmus Dahlin for the first goal of the game.

It starts with Josh Norris winning the face-off, which is a strength of his game with a career percentage of 52.5% and a career-high of 53.8% last season between Ottawa and Buffalo. The fact that Norris won it in Detroit's zone makes all of this possible.
Norris would win the puck, and it would be picked up by Zach Benson, who would control it and move it up to the blue line to Bowen Byram.
Byram would pass it across the ice to set up Rasmus Dahlin for the one-timer and beat Sebastian Cossa for the goal. The play was done almost to perfection and shows just how good this team can be offensively with these five players on the ice.
Rasmus Dahlin preseason goal is a welcomed sight for the Buffalo Sabres
Another positive just from this one play was Dahlin showing off the goal-scoring ability, which has taken some time to get going the past two seasons. In October the past two seasons, Dahlin has played in 19 games but has only three goals combined over that stretch.
If Dahlin can get off to a fast start, it will only help the Sabres chances of ending their playoff drought. He is easily their most important player and if he leads by example, it takes some pressure off other players, which in turn should help their production.
While it is only one play in a preseason game and it doesn't guarantee that everything will turn around for Buffalo, it is the type of play that the coaching staff (and fans) should be envisioning as a positive for hopefully things to come.
