Buffalo Sabres did what they do best in embarrassing loss vs. Habs
The Buffalo Sabres somehow managed to mess up their own winning streak by allowing a division rival to end a six-game skid.
If the Buffalo Sabres aren’t ashamed of themselves following an embarrassing loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Monday afternoon, I don’t know what will get this team to see reason. The Blue and Gold entered this one with an opportunity to kick off a rather favorable slate of games with a statement, and in typical Sabres fashion, they blew it.
But this isn’t what the Sabres do best; oh no, suffering meltdowns against manageable opponents is their second-best talent. If the Sabres are better than any other team in the NHL at doing something, it involves metaphorically handing their fans a bunch of gold before saying, “Got ya! It’s fools gold!”
At 7-7-1 and winners of three straight, it made sense to believe the Sabres were back on track and ready to roll over the Canadiens, who’d lost six straight. About half of those losses ended in blowouts, so there was no way they’d skate into KeyBank Center and score seven goals, right?
Not a team that ranked 25th in the league with 39 goals on the year, right? Oh, if you don’t know how this story ends by now, I suggest you read it again because only the Sabres know how to mess this up. Only the Sabres, who’ve yet to enjoy a winning record this season and literally had that eighth win given to them, or so you’d think, could manage to mess this up.
The Buffalo Sabres once again let their fans down
I recently asked a burning question about when the Sabres would become a physical hockey team for the first time in a while. It was the wrong question, as I should have asked when will they decide to start winning consistently and stop fooling a fanbase that should seriously consider utilizing their time in a better way as opposed to watching this group make them perpetually angry.
Seriously, go watch and read up on some content about how good the Bills are, as they actually know a thing or two about winning; perhaps even winning their own division by Week 12 if everything falls correctly. Impressive, right?
Go talk about the Bandits, who seem to be the only real professional sports team calling KeyBank Center home. As for the Sabres, they don’t deserve your support, as they’ve done absolutely nothing on the ice to show that the 2024-25 season is going to be any better. And it’s been the same old story since 2011-12.
But many of you will still show up, root for the Blue and Gold, and show your support. As I’m sure I’ve said before, you’re either a loyal Sabres fan or a hockey fan, and for that, the team that skates around in this arena for 60 minutes should be rather thankful for you taking time out of your own schedule to watch them break your heart.
