After a few days of waiting, Buffalo Sabres fans finally got an update on forward Jack Quinn. In Saturday's game against the San Jose Sharks, Quinn got shoved in the back by Sharks forward Tomas Hertl. Quinn's leg bent in a weird direction after it got caught under his body. He was in pain and needed some help getting off the ice.
Just from his reaction and the look of the injury, it didn't look good for him. He was going to be out for the game and who knows how many more he'll miss. After the Sabres beat San Jose, head coach Don Granato told reporters that while they don't know the exact extent, it was definitely not a day to day injury.
Yesterday, the fans found out. Lance Lysowski tweeted that Quinn underwent surgery and was going to be out approximately eight weeks. That was the bad news but here is the good news. Even though Quinn will be out for the time being, his injury was not related to the achilles injury he had in the Summer and there was no damage to his knee.
Listen, this is obviously a huge blow for Buffalo. Ever since Jack came back from his achilles injury, the team improved. The chemistry was starting to pick up with him, JJ Peterka and Dylan Cozens as the Kid Line was showing the magic they had last year.
Don't get me wrong, it's tough losing Jack to that kind of injury. Whether it's a broken leg or something else, at least there was no damage to his knee or the achilles. I feel awful for Jack as he fought so hard to play in the lineup this season after his injury in the Summer.
We will see how the next eight weeks play out but he will be missed and hopefully he has a speedy recovery.
