The Colorado Avalanche were just eliminated by the Dallas Stars in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Looking at their unrestricted free agents, there are lots of players who are scheduled to hit the free agent market. Jonathan Drouin, Caleb Jones and Pavel Francouz are just a few of those names.

For the Buffalo Sabres, the one player I would love for them to sign from the Avalanche is defenseman Sean Walker. He played in 81 games this season between the Philadelphia Flyers and Colorado, in which the Keswick, Ontario native scored 10 goals and recorded 19 assists for 29 points.

In addition to his numbers, the defenseman was also a +11 during the 2023/2024 campaign. Even though he wasn't a factor in the playoffs, he did have his best statistical season this year. If Walker is available, the Sabres should not hesitate to sign the blue liner.

He is 29 years old and had a cap hit of $2,650,000 this past season, so the Sabres wouldn't have to spend a ton of money. Walker is also a right-handed shot, which is something Buffalo needs. The Sabres blue line remains to be a glaring issue, so adding a player like Sean would be a good step in the right direction.

I don't know where Walker would be pairing wise, but he still would be a good addition to the team. With him being in his late 20s, it helps to have some experience on a very young defensive core. Before coming to the Avalanche, Walker signed a 4 year, $10,600,00 deal with the Los Angeles Kings.

I'm not sure how much renovation Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams will do with the blue line, but if Walker is indeed available, then Buffalo should try to bring him in. The Columbus Blue Jackets are the next team we look at.
