After being acquired via a trade on Wednesday, defenseman Bowen Byram scored a goal and added an assist Thursday night for the Buffalo Sabres in a 4-2 loss in Nashville. The Sabres hope it will be a good sign of things to come after the trade that sent Casey Mittelstadt to bring Byram to Buffalo. Buffalo has made several in-season trades over the last few years. Below are the results of the first game for the players acquired from an in-season trade since the 20/21 season.

1) Anders Bjork, left winger; acquired via trade on 4/12/2021 from the Boston Bruins. His first game, 4/13/21 vs Bruins, got an assist in 13+ minutes of ice time in a 3-2 loss via a shootout. Bjork also scored and registered an assist in the next game against the Washington Capitals.

2) Alex Tuch, right winger; acquired via trade on 11/4/2021 from the Las Vegas Golden Knights. First game: 12/29/2021 vs Devils, got an assist in about18 minutes ice time in a 4-3 loss.

3) Malcolm Subban, goalie; acquired via trade on 12/2/2021 from the Chicago Blackhawks. First game: 12/4/2021 vs Hurricanes, stopped 19 shots in a 6-2 loss.

4) Riley Stillman, defenseman; acquired via trade on 2/27/23 from the Vancouver Canucks. First game: 03/02/2023 vs Bruins, had six hits and two blocks in 18+ minutes ice time in a 7-1 loss.

5) Jordan Greenway, left wing; acquired via trade on 3/3/2023 from the Minnesota Wild. First game: 3/06/2023 vs Oilers, had one shot on goal in 12 minutes ice time in a 3-2 loss.

For the Sabres they may be on the move and are looking to continue to build for next season. Byram was a big part in Buffalo's shootout victory over the Edmonton Oilers.
