What Sabres fans must watch for when the Lindy Ruff era kicks off in October

The Sabres will definitely look different at the start of the upcoming season. The month of October has many intriguing storylines to follow as the second Lindy Ruff era is set to kickoff.

Opening in Prague

The Sabres will face off against the New Jersey Devils in Prague in back-to-back games on October 4th and 5th; it will be interesting to see if Lukas Rousek makes the trip as he is a native of Czechia.

Potential home debut for Konsta Helenius

.The opening home game for Buffalo will be on October 10th against the Los Angeles Kings. Could Konsta Helenius be the second first-round pick in two seasons to make a home debut for the Sabres as a rookie? If so, he will make his debut in front of Sabres faithful at Keybank Arena.

Two games against the Champs

The Florida Panthers will travel to Keybank Arena on October 12th and 28th; how Sam Reinhart and Evan Rodrigues will be received in Buffalo after winning the cup will be something to watch.

Lafferty will face off against Penguins

Sam Lafferty will be facing off against one of his former teams as he will play in Pittsburgh on October 16th; the veteran will be looking forward to playing against his former team he went deep into the playoffs with.

What will goalie look like?

Currently the only goalie on the roster is James Reimer. Devon Levi is with Rochester and should be called up at some point during the season. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is currently seeking arbitration and a big question mark is how that will play out. If Reimer is between the pipes on October 26th, he will go against his former team, the Detroit Red Wings.

This offseason has brought a lot of change to the Sabres organization. That change brings many questions. Most of the questions though, should be answered by the end of October.
