Unfortunately, if you're a Buffalo Sabres fan, the NHL Draft Lottery is nothing new. For the last 13 years, Buffalo has been a popular candidate in the lottery. Players like Jack Eichel, Rasmus Dahlin and Owen Power have all been drafted by the Sabres as a top candidate in the lottery, as well as others who have not worked out.

Buffalo's odds

This year's draft lottery will take place next week on Tuesday, May 7th. Looking at the Sabres odds, they are not great. Buffalo has the 11th best odds to win the lottery. They have a 3% chance of getting the first overall pick, so it's not too terrible. But in terms of other teams and their positioning, it doesn't sound promising.

Where they could end up

In terms of a top pick, the Sabres could either pick first or second. While picking at 11 is the most likely option, they could fall as well. Picks number 10, 12 and 13 are also a possibility for Buffalo. Again, it seems like picking at 11 is the realistic option, but crazier things have happened and the Sabres could very well jump up 10 spots, possibly.

Notable 11th overall picks

Let's just say Buffalo gets the 11th overall pick. The beauty of sports is you never know if a player will be great or a total disappointment. Some players who have been selected with the 11th pick include Filip Forsberg, Anže Kopitar, Jarome Iginla and Jeff Carter.

Steering away from the NHL, some other players in other leagues who were the 11th pick are JJ Watt (NFL), Klay Thompson (NBA), George Springer (MLB), and Max Scherzer (MLB).

Where to watch

You can watch the 2024 NHL Draft Lottery on ESPN, but at the current moment, the NHL has not yet announced a time.
