There is no secret that Victor Olofsson has had an up-and-down career with the Buffalo Sabres. Olofsson was drafted by Buffalo in the 7th round (181st overall) in the 2014 NHL Draft. After playing a few seasons in the Swedish Hockey League, the forward signed an entry-level contract with the Sabres in April of 2018.

At the time, Buffalo fans were excited about the signing. He had a lethal shot and was a very good skater, which gave the Sabres another offensive weapon alongside Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart. During the 2018/2019 season, Olofsson played most of the year with the Rochester Americans where he scored 30 goals.

But ever since he came up to play on the Sabres, Victor did not live up to the expectations. As a result, it seems like Olofsson will not be coming back this offseason.

In the tweet above, it seems like the Swedish forward will look to play elsewhere. Olofsson was due for a new contract and it seems like he will get one but not from Buffalo. Honestly, this was a long time coming. Other than last year where he scored 28 goals, it just seemed like Victor and the Sabres were not the right match.

This season was an all-time disappointment as he only scored seven goals and registered eight assists in 51 games played. Now it's not all his fault but it was time to move on in my opinion. His name has been in the conversations of trade talks for the longest time.

It's honestly unfortunate. Olofsson had so much potential coming into the NHL. But for whatever reason, it wasn't a good run in Buffalo. Aside from this year, he was inconsistent. He would score a few goals but then went the longest time not scoring.

It'll be interesting to see where he ends up and how he performs but it looks like his time with the Sabres has come to an end.
