Opening Night for the Buffalo Sabres is quickly approaching as they have only two preseason games left before their first game of the regular season on October 9th against the New York Rangers. Over the weekend, the Sabres significantly cut down the roster as they sent 24 players down to Rochester and got much closer to what the roster is going to look like to begin the season.

Over the first part of the preseason, as well as training camp, the Sabres have been pretty consistent with the lines and pairs they have been using. The only way questions will really arise is if they suffer any additional injuries between now and the start of the season, or players who are expected to return aren't ready.

With that in mind, these are the forward lines and defensive pairs that fans should expect to see in the game against the New York Rangers.

Buffalo Sabres Forward Lines for Opening Night

Line 1: Zach Benson - Josh Norris - Tage Thompson

The Buffalo Sabres opened training camp with Zach Benson and Josh Norris alongside Tage Thompson. It was an excellent decision as these three have looked great together in the two preseason games they have played.

Thompson leads the way with three goals and one assist, while Norris has one goal and three assists, and Benson has added an assist in each of the games. The biggest question will be whether or not Norris can stay healthy, but if he can handle the workload, the potential for what this line can do is very high.
