Ryan Miller added another accolade to his legendary career as he was inducted into the Rochester Americans Hall of Fame on Friday night. This is the third time now that Miller has been inducted into a Hall of Fame, as he was inducted into the NHL Hall of Fame in 2022, and the Sabres Hall of Fame in 2023.
Miller had an incredible career with the Sabres as he spent the first 11 years of his career wearing the blue and gold. Miller was a 4-time All-Star and also won a Vezina trophy with the Sabres as well.
Miller was also nominated for the Lady Byng and the Hart trophies on multiple instances, and Miller also has set the record for the most games played in one season for a Sabres goalie. As he played 76 games during the 2007-2008 season leading the Sabres to a playoff spot.
Miller in his minor league career played 172 for Rochester spanning from 2002-2006, including winning a regular season title with the team in the 2004-2005 season. He finished with a 98-61-16 record in all his games with a save percentage of .913 and a goals-against average of 2.37.
Miller and his family have been an important piece to the Buffalo/Rochester community over the years as he spent more than 12 years in the area. Miller runs his annual Catwalk for Charity Fundraiser at Seneca One. Miller and his teammates have helped raise more than $1 million for pediatric cancer patients over the years.
I think this is a great definition of community," Miller said. "I've had a lot of great life experiences here, and I feel like people have your back here, and I think they really want to get behind something."
It is always nice to see former players come back to the area and give back to the community that gave them a home throughout their careers. Miller was one of the loyal ones as he stayed with the Sabres for many years, as that can’t be said for a lot of former players.
Miller accomplished something last night that very few individuals have done, getting inducted into one Hall of Fame is difficult enough, but three is insane to accomplish. Miller getting his flowers for all his contributions is something Sabres fans love to see.
