The Buffalo Sabres front office should be tuning in for each Calder Cup playoff game that’s now hosting something called the Kulich and Rosen Show.
Time and again during the 2023 Calder Cup Playoffs, Buffalo Sabres prospects Jiri Kulich and Isak Rosen have displayed remarkable offense, and it happened again tonight against the Toronto Marlies. And let’s begin with Jiri Kulich, who just scored a goal in his sixth straight game.
How epic was this? Well, just take a look at the following tweet:
Pretty cool, right? Given his performance so far during the playoffs, goals and points aside, Kulich has found ways to get open, has found open teammates, and has, for the most part, been arguably the most exciting player on the ice since he made his playoff debut in Game 3 vs. the Syracuse Crunch.
Buffalo Sabres prospects Kulich, Rosen shine yet again vs. Toronto
And in case you missed Kulich’s big goal, you can check it out below. What impressed me about this one was his ability to squeeze the puck between two Marlies and still find twine, and the gap probably would have closed had he hesitated for even a fraction of a second.
As for Rosen, it was his turn to pull off another impression of Victor Olofsson with a power play goal that put the Amerks up 5-2. With the puck going full flow to the left, the Marlies penalty killers followed, only for Jeremy Davies to work the puck back to Lawrence Pilut, who was quarterbacking the play.
Pilut pulled off an amazing pass, where he looked to his left, only to flip it to Rosen at the right circle, letting the rookie find twine. Overall, it was a textbook play from Rosen, Pilut, and Davies, who were both credited with the assist. Check out the play for yourself:
Rosen would later score a second goal in the third frame, off of a pass from Mason Jobst. Overall, it was yet another outstanding showing of offense from our two former first round picks featuring both goals scored and a plethora of points.
I especially noticed Kulich all over the ice, either on the backcheck or finding ways to get good looks offensively. Kulich, at this point, seems ready to take the next step. And if there’s room on the Buffalo Sabres roster next season, he will be in a blue and gold uniform.
