Another major upset win paces Buffalo Sabres Week 10 predictions
The Buffalo Sabres enter Week 10 still searching for much-needed consistency, so will it finally come or will they continue their perpetual stagnation?
While the Buffalo Sabres are just 11-14-3, they should also know their 2023-24 season is far from over and they are just a few short bouts of consistency (in a good way) to claw their way back into this thing. Ironically, the Blue and Gold are fortunate enough to boast a tough schedule, as they like playing the league’s better teams well.
Therefore, don’t be surprised if Buffalo pulls off another major upset in one of their upcoming contests, especially given how good their goaltending has been in their last seven periods of regulation. And with a heightened sense of urgency, you also shouldn’t be surprised if Buffalo finds the back of the net a few more times than usual this week.
Buffalo Sabres bold predictions for Week 10 contain one major upset
1 – Sabres upset Vegas Golden Knights
So far this season, the Sabres upset the Colorado Avalanche, the New York Rangers, and most recently, the Boston Bruins, and the Vegas Golden Knights are the next elite team on the Sabres radar. Despite the Knights dominating the rest of the league with 43 points in 2023, the Sabres find a way to win this game by two goals.
It’s a claim that may sound far-fetched, given Buffalo’s overall struggles this season, but they have pulled off too many upsets to allow those in league circles to chalk this one up as an automatic loss. The Buffalo Sabres will skate into Vegas and pull off an upset by a score of 4-2.
2 – Goaltending stays hot
Devon Levi enjoyed a remarkable pair of games since the Sabres were forced to call him up from Rochester. Whether Levi remains on the roster this week remains to be seen, but regardless of who mans the net, look for the goaltending to remain a force.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen should return this week, and he’s clearly on the up-and-up so far in 2023-24 with a 0.907 save percentage and a 2.81 GAA. Luukkonen will enjoy at least one epic game while either Levi or Comrie will also outperform expectations despite the tough schedule featuring Vegas, the Arizona Coyotes, and Colorado.
3 – Sabres put up four or more goals in two games
So far in December, the Sabres are 1-3-1, and they have yet to score over three goals in a single contest. Although they have had trouble putting pucks into the back of the net this season, it’s still the same team that scored 296 goals last year, and we will see flashes of that this week with Tage Thompson and Jeff Skinner getting hot chemistry-wise.
Other key players like Rasmus Dahlin will further develop a sense of urgency, and he will also catapult the Blue and Gold into scoring more consistently than they have all season. This isn’t to say the Buffalo Sabres will win both high-scoring games, but they will make for some thrillers.
