Looking ahead to Week 12 of the Buffalo Sabres 2023-24 season
Looking back to Week 11, the Buffalo Sabres went 1-1-1. It started out with an absolute embarrassing effort against the Columbus Blue Jackets on home ice as the Sabres lost 9-4. The most inconsistent team in the NHL rebounded with 9 goals of their own as Buffalo blew out the Toronto Maple Leafs 9-3. Then last night, Buffalo lost 4-3 in overtime to the New York Rangers.
So once again, the Buffalo Sabres are back to doing the "win one, lose one" method. It's incredibly frustrating for a team who had playoff expectations coming into the season. Even after Don Granato's comments from the other night, the trend is continuing for the 2023-24 Buffalo Sabres.
So turning the page to Week 12, it will be the final week of 2023. The Sabres will have three games, two of them at home. After the Christmas break, Buffalo will welcome in the Boston Bruins. The last time these teams saw each other, it was the Sabres getting the 3-1 victory.
If the trend continues, the Sabres will look like the best team in the NHL and get the victory
After a couple of days off, Buffalo will host the Columbus Blue Jackets. As I mentioned earlier, it was an embarrassing effort as the Sabres got blown out against this Columbus team. I'm sure redemption will be on the mind for Buffalo, but based on this season, who knows which version of the Sabres we'll get.
To close out 2023, Buffalo will be on the road in Ottawa for a meeting with the Senators. There could be a new rivalry forming between Buffalo and Ottawa based on the last meeting. Both teams are at the bottom of the Atlantic Division so it will be interesting to see what takes place on New Years Eve.
For my predictions, I think the Sabres take 2 of the 3 games. I see them losing to Boston on home ice. However, I think they will turn the curse and beat the teams they should be able to beat. They will get revenge on Columbus and will beat the Senators to wrap up 2023. It would be a great time to turn the tide and take care of business as they turn the page to 2024.
